Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FAQ - WINDSHIELD & AUTO GLASS REPAIR & REPLACEMENT

Why is it important to repair or replace a windshield?

  • The importance of a well-installed windshield is critical to maintaining the safety of a vehicle. When a vehicle rolls over or when it crashes head-on, the windshield is largely responsible for keeping the vehicle's structural strength as it makes up approximately 30% of its structure.
  • On top of that, the windshield allows for the airbags to be properly deployed when you need them to make sure that passengers are protected.

Can I just repair my auto glass instead of replacing it?

  • We can probably repair a windshield if the damage is no bigger than a quarter, is not in the way of the driver's line of vision, and is located at least 4cm from the rim.
  • A windshield replacement is the way to go if the damage extends to more than 3 points of impact or if it consists of a crack bigger than a quarter; the damage is an impediment to the driver's line of vision; or the damage is located less than 4cm from the rim.

What exactly is involved in a windshield repair?

  • The process consists of the pressurized introduction of a product into the chip, leading to the restoration of the windshield to its original strength with fewer signs of visible damage.

Why do you need so much information about my vehicle before replacing my windshield?

  • Given that there isn't just one windshield for a specific model of vehicle, it is important to install the right windshield that fits your vehicle's make, model, and particular features.
  • We aim to efficiently complete every windshield replacement, and to help us do that, we need to make sure that the parts we order are the correct ones for your vehicle's requirements.

Will the rear-view mirror be re-attached to my new windshield?

  • Yes, absolutely! Your rearview mirror will be removed and reinstalled on your new windshield as part of the service provided by our trained technicians.

What's the difference between OEM & OEE parts?

  • An OEM part falls under the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) category, which includes companies that produce spare parts, mainly for automakers. All OEM parts feature the logo of a particular automaker (like Mercedes, Mazda, Toyota, etc.).
  • An OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) part is the same as an OEM part, but it does not feature the automobile manufacturer's logo.
  • All of the auto glass that we use complies or exceeds all government, industry, and safety standards regardless of whether it is OEM or OEE. We are committed to providing you with superior quality and expert workmanship in every job that we do.

When can I schedule an appointment to have my auto glass repaired or replaced?

  • We can usually schedule an appointment for the next business day, or as soon as we can obtain the materials and supplies that we require to meet your personalized needs.
  • Please contact us by phone, text, or email to discuss your situation, and we would be happy to provide the best and most efficient service possible. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we work hard to provide consistent high-quality workmanship to every customer that we serve.

FAQ - ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS)

What are advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)?

  • The automotive industry has advanced a great deal in recent years, which has significantly improved the way that people enjoy driving and how safe and comfortable they feel behind the wheel. ADAS helped contribute to the manufacturing of smart vehicles. These systems have already been integrated to many makes and models of automobiles and will become even more popular in the near future.
  • Some of the most notable features in ADAS are lane departure, danger detection, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and safety warnings.

How is the ADAS affected when a windshield is replaced?

  • Advanced driver assistance systems and cameras are connected through a vehicle's windshield. Data regarding traffic and road environments is captured by the cameras, and it should be expected that a camera that has not been recalibrated after the replacement of a windshield can result in poor performance.

What are the different ways of recalibrating advanced driver assistance programs (ADAS)?

  • ADAS can be recalibrated using static and dynamic methods. We perform static calibration at our shop with the help of targets and patented tools.
  • For dynamic calibration, the camera is recalibrated while one of our trained, professional technicians is driving the vehicle.
  • Complete recalibration is achieved by using both processes and is referred to as universal calibration.

About how much does it cost to recalibrate an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS)?

  • For either static or dynamic recalibration, you could typically expect to pay approximately $275.
  • When both methods are used due to certain vehicles requiring universal recalibration, the price is approximately $550.

Do you provide technical support if my ADAS is not working properly?

  • If your system isn't working properly, you'll need to contact your dealer. We are only qualified to handle the recalibration of these systems after the replacement of a windshield.
  • We do, however, offer a 12-month warranty on our recalibration service.
